Gaming Influence: Thoughts - PlayStation State of Play | September 24, 2024
Hello everyone,
Welcome to Gaming Influence, a reboot of the same name I created in WrestleCorp. However, I will not only be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series but also on video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.
I'll give my thoughts on the PlayStation State of Play on September 24, 2024, for this edition of Gaming Influence.
Before I start, only some games shown in this presentation will be discussed as I will mainly talk about games that I care about and am interested in. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally, I have nothing against the games, but they're just not for me or I don't have much to say about them except cool. However, if you're happy with the games you care about and are interested in I have nothing to say about it, good for you and I'm so glad for you.
Anyway, let's get started!
This PlayStation State of Play will cover PS5 and PSVR2 games coming in the future so let's get to it!
ASTRO BOT is a platformer developed by Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game will have a free update including five new online speedrunning courses and ten new robots to rescue which will be released Fall 2024.
It's great to see that ASTRO BOT will still get updates after its release; they are free too. The new courses they have look like a lot of fun to play and the fact that we're getting robots from Stellar Blade and Helldivers II is awesome too. Hope to see more updates to this game in the future and looking forward to this update once it's released this fall.
Hell is Us is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Rogue Factor and published by Nacon. The game is set to be released on PS5 in the future.
This game looks to be a very interesting survival horror game in a way mixed with a lot of fantasy and I'm down for it. The story seems very intriguing too with monsters living inside people's heads which is definitely creepy for sure. I'm very curious to see more of this game and hope to see it in the future.
ArcheAge Chronicles is a massively multiplayer online action role-playing game developed by XL Games and published by Kakao Games. The game is set to be released on PS5 in 2025.
I have to say that this game looks quite impressive for what it is as the graphics are pretty good from this trailer. There seems to be a lot of customization as well which is great for RPGs like these. I hope to see more of this game down the line to see what else they have as it'll be released next year.
Palworld is an action-adventure, survival, and monster-taming game developed and published by Pocketpair. The game is available now on PS5.
Awesome to see that this game is coming to consoles and it'll start with PS5. If you're into a mixture of Pokémon and Minecraft into one, then Palworld is the game for you. Very curious to see how this game will run on PS5, but glad to see that other people can play the game now which is great to see.
LUNAR Remastered Collection is a collection of role-playing games developed and published by GungHo which will include LUNAR: Silver Star Story Complete and LUNAR 2: Eternal Blue. The collection will be released on PS5 and PS4 in Spring 2025.
Oh my god! I didn't expect this, but this is awesome! The LUNAR series was a pretty fun JRPG series back in the PSX days and we haven't seen anything from the LUNAR series since 2009 so this is a nice treat. Great to see these games getting remastered and great to see something from LUNAR after fifteen years as I'm looking forward to this collection when it comes spring of next year.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge - Radical Reptiles is DLC for the beat 'em up game developed by Tribute Games and published by Dotemu, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. The DLC is available now on PS5.
Oh wow, we're actually getting DLC for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, and the fact that it's out now is awesome! The fact that we got two new playable characters in Mona Lisa and Mondo Gecko as well as getting a new original soundtrack remix among a lot of video game music composers is awesome. Looking forward to trying out this DLC once I get the chance as it's available now to play.
Sonic X Shadow Generations: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack is DLC for the platformer developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega, Sonic X Shadow Generations. The DLC is set to be released on December 12, 2024.
Oh wow! The fact that we get Keanu Reeves as Shadow in this special DLC pack is awesome. They're definitely doing their best to hype up the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie which should be awesome. The fact that this DLC will also feature new levels based on the movie is quite cool as well. Looking forward to this DLC once it's released in three months.
FANTASIAN Neo Dimension is a role-playing game developed by Mistwalker and published by Square Enix. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PS4 on December 5, 2024.
We've seen this game being showcased in the Nintendo Direct back in June of this year so it looks like this game is also coming to PlayStation as well which isn't surprising. Glad to see this game being on more platforms and really hope this game does well with its new improvements from its Apple Arcade release. Looking forward to playing it once it's released in three months.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is an action role-playing game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. The game is set to be released on PS5 on October 31, 2024.
This game is coming out on Halloween and with all of the dragons in this game, it seems like a great fit. In all seriousness, this Dragon Age game looks a lot different compared to past Dragon Age games and that isn't a bad thing as I thought it looked pretty good for what it is. The combat and gameplay of this game look to be a lot of fun and it's been ten years since the last Dragon Age game as well. Looking forward to seeing how this game will do once it's released next month.
Alan Wake II: The Lake House is DLC for the narrative-driven action-horror game developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Epic Games, Alan Wake II. The DLC is set to be released on PS5 this October.
Nice to see that Alan Wake II will get DLC once again with The Lake House which seems very interesting so far with it taking place in a Control universe. It looks like Remedy Entertainment is showing more connections between the Alan Wake series and Control at this point as I'm very curious to see how it'll end up. Hope to see more of this once it's released next month.
Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered is a collection of action-adventure games developed and published by Aspyr, Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver, and Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 2. The collection is set to be released on PS5 and PS4 on December 10, 2024.
Holy crap! They're bringing back this series after eleven years! Oh my god! This is pretty much the first two Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver games that were released on PSX and PS2 so seeing them in a HD remaster is quite awesome. I also like how they kept the old-school graphics for the nice game. Very curious to see how this collection will do and hope this series makes a comeback if it sells well. Looking forward to replaying these games once they're released in three months.
Fear the Spotlight is an atmospheric third-person horror adventure game developed by Cozy Game Pals and published by Blumhouse Games. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PS4 on October 22, 2024.
We've seen this game multiple times in the past, especially during Summer Game Fest and this game continues to be unique and I like it because of that. I like how this game was inspired by classic PSX games with its graphics so I dig that. Plus, the release date is perfect as it's near Halloween which makes a perfect horror game to play near that time. Looking forward to trying this game out once it comes out next month.
Towers of Aghasba is an open-world fantasy sandbox action-adventure game developed and published by Dreamlit Inc. where the game will be released with early access on PS5 on November 2024.
We haven't seen this game in a long time and the last time we saw this game was the PlayStation Showcase last year. The game continues to look impressive for it is and it looks like the game will also have online multiplayer too which is great. Looking forward to seeing how the game will turn out as the early access for this game will be released in two months.
DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS is a hack-and-slash game developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo. The game is set to be released on PS5 on January 17, 2025.
It's been a while since we last saw this game which was the PlayStation State of Play back in May of this year. The game continues to look great as the gameplay looks like classic musou and there's nothing wrong with that. The story continues to be interesting too as this is the origin story of the DYNASTY WARRIORS lore. Very curious to see how this game will turn out once it's released in four months.
Monster Hunter Wilds is an action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom where the game will be released on PS5 on February 28, 2025.
Finally! After almost a year of trailers, we finally got a release date for the game and it's coming out a lot closer than expected which is great to see. The game continues to look with incredible graphics and the gameplay continues to look fun as expected with all of the monsters in the game. Also, that pre-order bonus with the digital artbook and costume sets is always a nice treat. Not only that, we're also getting more info on the game at Tokyo Game Show which is also awesome. Looking forward to playing this game when it finally comes out in five months.
LEGO Horizon Adventures is an action-adventure game developed by Guerrilla Games and Studio Gobo and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PC on November 14, 2024.
We've seen this game numerous times in multiple digital presentations now, but this time, we finally got a release date for the game and it's coming out sooner than expected. I still can't believe this game is real and the fact that there are pre-order bonus costumes with characters from Ratchet & Clank and Little Big Planet is awesome as well. Looking forward to trying this game out once it's released in two months.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is a remaster of the action-adventure game developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PC on October 31, 2024.
This game has been rumored for a while now and it looks like it came true. Even though there have been improvements to the game, I feel like this remaster is unnecessary as you can already play Horizon Zero Dawn on PS5 via PS4 since PS5 is backward compatible and the game still looks amazing on PS4 too. Granted, having the PS5 upgrade for $10 from PS4 is fine, but it would be cool if it was free if they were going to do that. However, that's just me as I find it redundant. However, for those who haven't gotten Horizon Zero Dawn and have a PS5, then get the PS5 version, but still find that remastering this game right now instead of at least a decade later is unnecessary.
Stellar Blade x NieR Automata is DLC for the action-adventure game developed by Shift Up and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The DLC will crossover with NieR Automata as it'll be released on PS5 later this year.
What?! Okay, I didn't see this coming at all, but this was such a nice surprise. Ever since I saw Stellar Blade, it definitely reminded me of NieR Automata a lot so seeing a collaboration between the two games is incredible. I'm very curious to see how the collaboration would work if it's just 2B being in Stellar Blade or what, but either way, looking forward to this DLC and hope to see more of it when it comes out later this year.
Ghost of Yōtei is an action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 in 2025.
Well, Sucker Punch has been working on a new game for a while and we finally know what it is and it looks incredible. It looks like Ghost is officially a series for PlayStation now and I'm all for it. This game is taking place in Yōtei and it looks like we play as a female protagonist with a possible wolf companion? I'm down! The graphics also look incredible as well and the gameplay looks smooth similar to Ghost of Tsushima where I'm very curious if they'll improve anything from the first game in terms of gameplay. Either way, I'm definitely hyped for this game and I can't wait to see more of it once it comes out next year.
Overall, this was a good presentation from PlayStation. I feel like this presentation had a good mix of first-party and third-party games where I didn't expect any first-party games at all, but we managed to get a few so that's great. Plus, they had some pretty good third-party games coming in with new original games as well as retro games that have been stuck on the consoles they've been released in for decades so that's awesome. Plus, a few indie games got a chance to shine too along with a few PSVR2 games and games being announced for PlayStation Plus. Not only that, we got more footage of more games being used for PS5 Pro which is cool, but I still find it expensive regardless. Regardless, there are some big games coming out on PS5 starting next year and we'll see what PlayStation will have in store for us when that time comes.
